Working in conjunction with the Nottingham and Derby Moderation Teams, all year groups in Derby and Nottingham City had access to moderation workshops and a portal of standards with moderated and annotated examples of y1-6 writing.
Moderation and Exemplification of Standards
In order to drive improvement in writing outcomes, a teacher needs a thorough understanding of the assessment criteria and expectation of standards in the year group in which they teach. They also require a thorough understanding of the curriculum which precedes and follows this year group. It is through a teachers understanding of the expected technical and procedural content that impactful pedagogy can then be developed.
